Kitchen installation step by step

Installation is the last and most visible stage of a made-to-measure kitchen. The animation above shows the order; below you will find what matters at each step.

Before installation

  • Painting and tiling of the walls should be finished.
  • Water, waste, electrical and gas points should be ready as shown in the project.
  • The kitchen should be emptied and the floor clean and dry.

Why the wall units first?

Hanging the wall units first gives the team easy access to the wall and protects the base units and worktop from scratches and knocks while they work.

Level is everything

Floors and walls are rarely perfectly true. Base units are levelled on their adjustable feet and wall units on their hanging rails. Skip this step and the doors sit out of line and the worktop does not seat properly.

Worktop and appliances

The worktop is measured on site and cut; the cut-outs for the sink and hob are made. Water and electrical connections must be made by qualified people; the gas connection is made only by an authorised service.

Final adjustments

Once the doors are on, the hinges are adjusted in three directions to even out the gaps and the drawers are aligned. The plinth is fitted, sealant applied, and the kitchen is handed over clean.

How long does it take?

It depends on the size of the kitchen, the worktop material and how ready the room is. We state the exact time in your quote.
